In Gurmat interpretation, the word Jaati does not always mean social class or caste. In the line:
ਕਬੀਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਕਉ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਹਸਨੇਹਾਰੁ ॥
the word Jaati refers to the physical body. Kabir distinguishes between Jeev (the soul) and Jaati (the body).
