Jhootha Basera (ਝੂਠਾ ਬਸੇਰਾ)
Meaning: False dwelling — the world (sansar) is called jhootha basera because it is not the true home of the soul.
It is like a jail where the soul is bound with Time.
It can also be seen as a hospital, where the soul undergoes rectification and healing through Brahmgyan (spiritual wisdom).
But this worldly existence is not the final home.
Gurmat Teaching:
The soul’s true abode is Nij Ghar (its eternal home, Sachkhand).
Worldly attachments are temporary and illusory; recognizing the falseness of this basera leads the soul back to its source.
Ujad Kheda Firr Base, Basse Taan Ujaad Jaaye
Bhatt Khedeyan da Rehna (Dasam Bani), Even Anandpur Sahib, despite its glory, was described in this imagery — reminding Sikhs that no physical city is the soul’s eternal home.
Gurmat Teaching:
The soul must not mistake temporary settlements (worldly life, cities, possessions) as permanent.
Only Nij Ghar (Sachkhand) is the soul’s abiding place.
